Why Cells4health

Cells4health is your optimum choice

Cells4health offers removal, preparation and storage services for adult stem cells from the umbilical cord blood of newborn babies and from the bone marrow of adult individuals. Cells4health is certified for the performance of all three procedures pursuant to internationally applicable quality regulations ("good manufacturing practices"). Moreover, the organization is closely linked to the XCell-Center / Institute for Regenerative Medicine in Cologne, which is the first private clinic to actually obtain government agency approval for the performance of therapies involving adult stem cells. Consequently, Cells4health is in a position to build a bridge for its customers between the mere storage of valuable stem cells and therapeutic applications already possible today. It is the emphasis on the medical application of the cells that differentiates Cells4health from other providers; this fundamental understanding that causes us to handle the Storage of Stem Cells with utmost care:

  • Cells4health isolates the stem cells harvested from the umbilical cord blood or bone marrow prior to freezing them. This procedure greatly reduces the volume of the specimens and is of critical importance. The larger the sample volume (e.g. if full blood plasma is frozen) the larger the volume of added frost guard substances. These are potentially toxic, which is why as little as possible should be added.

  • Freezing full plasma specimens brings about yet another problem: it also comprises cells that do not tolerate freezing at all (granulocytes and red blood cells). If they are destroyed during the freezing and defrosting processes, the released DNA may cause the other cells, including the stem cells, to clump. The yield and survival rate of stem cells derived from frozen full plasma is therefore substantially smaller and it may actually be unusable.

  • Cells4health tests the stem cells for survival potential prior to storing them. This is performed with the established "colony forming units" CFU Test, which is the most reliable vitality test. A small percentage of the stem cells in the cell culture are tested for their ability to procreate. The mere dyeing of the cells, which is the process used by other providers, does not suffice for verification.

On the next pages you will find detailed information on Cells4health! The stem cells derived from the umbilical cord blood of your child and your own bone marrow stem cells have significant medical potential, which should be stored very carefully. It is therefore your absolute right to get all the information you can about the company you entrust with these stem cells.
